I
was in an antique store when I first discovered the wonderful realm
of Victorian spiritual books and booklets. The wood floors beneath
me creaked as I gently cracked open a book just like the ones I will
make available to you. Most are extremely ornate and contain words
of hope and inspiration that may offer comfort to not just the religious
but also to 21st century weary travelers. Gadgets ding and buzz, cell
phones ring, the neighbor's stereo is too loud- why not travel back
in time and to a loftier place with one of these gems? I will be listing
these one by one as they are sold.
The
Angel Watchers- Easter Poems by Isa J. Postgate
An
extremely scarce book, this is! Themes of resurrection and light after
death are within the covers. The sixteen page German printed booklet
(including front and back of booklet) includes three beautiful color
chromolithographs of Angels.

The
cover of the book is embossed and shows some staining and soiling,
however the inside pages are clean. One of the pages stuck to the
other when I opened it (it may have been over one hundred years since
it was last read!) and a small piece of the surface of one of the
chromolithographs came off onto the other page (shown below). The
pages are thick and somewhat glossy.

Published
by The Artistic Lithographic Company, London. "Printed at the
works in Munich." No publishing date written, but likely 1880's.
