Vintage Wedding White Handkerchiefs
During the Victorian Era, and not even so long ago, a lady carried in her purse a fabric handkerchief. Some were exquisite and more for ornamental value while others were purely functional. Until the early 1960's hankies were fairly common and could be readily purchased and made popular gifts since many came enclosed in beautiful presentation boxes or cards. "Wedding hankies" are still a tradition for many. I am offering you two different hanky lots I acquired from the same estate.
Six Wedding White Vintage Hankies with Madeira, Lace and Irish Linen
Six circa 1940's or 1950's vintage wedding handkerchiefs in excellent condition- no holes or stains. Three have been previously washed and pressed while the other three still have their original tags. The hanky on the upper left has a tag that reads "Rayon fabric, DESCO, Hand Made in Madeira. Cotton Decorations." Absolutely gorgeous detailing. Middle hanky has a tag that reads "Nottingham Lace. Lady Heritage All Irish Cotton Decoration. Made in Hong Kong." Third hanky on upper right has a tag that reads "All linen centre. All cotton decoration. Made in Ireland."
